Chapel Gallery

Premier Platform Lifts were approached by Dunbar & Boardman Lift Consultants to look at the possibilities of providing full disabled access to the first floor in the newly refurbished Gallery in Ormskirk. The lift was to be positioned in a new glass atrim on the front façade of the building, so had to be finished in glass with its own self -supporting structure and sit comfortably with the architectural concept.

The lift would be in constant use so not only had to be aesthetically pleasing, but equally reliable, easy to use and robust. Our EC700 Platform Lift ticked all the boxes.

Structural and footprint restrictions

The atrim was constructed within a limited space and needed to house both the lift, new entrace doors and the landing area at both floors. The proposed Platform Lift shaft area was limited, with fixings only available at the ground floor and the landing threshold. The lift pit available was only 140mm with low headroom of only 2600mm.

Working together with the architects at West Lancashire Council & the lift consulatant from Dumbar & Boardman a solution was achieved. We designed a structure that would both secure the lift and fit into the footprint we had available.

Finish and design

The finish and design of the lift car, shaft panels and landing doors were extremely important to overall project. We put forward a design that incorporated all of the archiects aspirations and fullfilled the stringent specification requirements of Dunbar & Boradman. The lift structure is finished in RAL7040 with glazed panels allowing both light and space. The lift has a full lift cabin with a glazed a wall, giving the users a scenic experience. We installed stainless steel telescopic landing & cabin doors no only to complete the overall aesthitic but also allowing conventional lift controls in the cabin, (no need for hold to run push buttons like other platform lifts). This stunning lift is situated at the main entracnce of the building and only serves to significantly enhance and not detract from the overall aesthetics of this prestigious site.

The project was completed with only 4 days on site, on budget and to the total satisfaction of both the client and their customers.

We look forward to working with both Dunbar & Boardman and West Lancashire Council on their future projects

“I am glad to say that Premier Platform Lifts not only helped us achieve our vision by providing a solution tailored specifically to our needs, but working with their team from point of order until handover has been a simple process. The lift looks fantastic and is exactly what we hoped for. I will most definitely use Premier again on future projects, both the project management team and the installation engineers were superb”.
