HOME LIFTS I JULY 02 2021

Why it pays to go bespoke with your home lift design

Thinking of installing a home lift? Whether you’re after a smooth integration with your home aesthetic, a mobility solution for an awkwardly-sized space, or an eye-catching feature to turn the heads of guests, a bespoke lift is the superior option to go for. Here are four reasons why a bespoke lift may be the best solution for your individual needs.

1. Adapt the lift to building design

Your house could be an architectural masterpiece, blowing every Grand Designs featured-house out of the water. If this is the case, the last thing you want is to put a lift in that doesn’t match with the aesthetic. Alternatively, you might have a period property characterised by a distinctive architectural style. In these instances, installing an ultra-modern solution may compromise the building’s character. By going bespoke, you can adapt to meet the architectural style of a house.

This doesn’t mean the appearance of the lift always needs to blend in seamlessly with the look of the house. It could also create an opportunity to add some contrast. When done tastefully, contrasts look fresh and innovative. Installing a scenic circular glass lift might make for a beautiful feature in a traditional rural farmhouse, for example. Perhaps you need a lift that goes up to a terrace or one that works around a spiral staircase. It’s less about making a creative statement and more about adapting to an existing design, ensuring the new feature does not impose on it.

2. Match the lift to your personal needs

Going bespoke with your lift means you can match it to your specific needs. Many people opt for a grandiose bespoke solution to add a little luxury into their property. Others simply want to bring more day-to-day convenience with a practical solution that is discreet and out of plain view. Sometimes, a specific medical condition may require you to make bespoke alterations to a lift model. For example, perhaps you are partially-sighted and need larger buttons, hand-rails and plenty of space. Whatever lift solution your lifestyle requires, we’re here to help make it happen for you.

3. Use the lift to increase a home value

As explained in another of our blog posts, installing a home lift can increase the value of your home by up to 25%. This is because the extra mobility brought about by a lift is an enticing asset for both the retirement market and families with a busy home life. Beyond practical and functional use, home lifts are also a standout feature that often sets a property apart from those without such assets.

If you want to pump up the value a lift brings to a property even further, going bespoke is a good option to consider. The more modern features a lift has, the more value it will likely have. Real estate agents love having a unique focal point when selling a property. The more modern features a lift has, the more it can be used to impress buyers, give your home an edge in the crowded buyer’s market, and increase the value of the offers you receive.
